The cheaper "taxi" home after midnight

You know how sometimes we head for at night for a few drinks with our friends and have a good time?

Then time passes by quickly and its time to head home?

It's passed midnight. There're no public transport. There's no night buses in the area you're in/you're just too tired to take a 1 hour ride home.

Then you decided to flag a taxi.

Damn it expensive!! Well, just this weekend, I've used another app to make my "taxi ride" cheaper.

You've met him before, meet UBER.

Uber is actually cheaper than normal taxis past midnight.

WHY?
Uber charges a flat rate throughout 24 hours = no midnight surcharge.

Mechanism
Uber = $0.50/km PLUS $0.25/min


From Clarke Quay to the east:

Distance 22km. Time 32 mins.
Uber (based on actual fee)
Base fare: $3.50
Distance : $10
Time: $7.50
Total $21

Comfort Sonata (gothere.sg)
Base fare: $3.20
Booking fee: $2.30
Distance: $14.96
Late night: $8.98
Total $29.44 ($27.14 with no booking)

Oh, and thus far, all Uber experience has been excellent(no exaggeration). Probably because its a SUV + the drivers know they'll be rated by their passengers by the end of the ride.
